“The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step” – Lao Tzu –
starting over financially and building wealth from scratch isn’t easy. I know what it’s like to be on the brink of bankruptcy and have to juggle bills just to keep the lights on. I’ve experienced car repossession, past due notices, those annoying bill collection harassment phone calls and even at one point having my utilities shut off because I missed the shut off date payment. Then there was that time I consulted with a bankruptcy attorney as a possibility to consider as an option. Yep, been there… done that… don’t want to do it again.
I’ve also experienced the sleepless nights from the loss of a job and not knowing when I’d find another one and if I’d make enough money to maintain the living standard I was used to having. It’s pretty scary not knowing if the amount you managed to scrape together to live off of will last long enough to get back on your feet.
Because I never built up a savings in case of an emergency, I had to cash out the small 401k savings I had with my previous employer to survive on and it dried up really quick. Talk about scary! Fortunately I found a better paying job in the nick of time. Since then I started to refresh financially and slowly build wealth a long the way. Ever heard the saying “when one door closes another one opens”?
If you’ve experienced any of these things or know someone who has, let me start off by expressing my sympathy for your/their situation. It’s a long hard struggle to get back on your feet financially, but the good news is that the journey begins with the first step.
Maybe you’ve been fortunate enough to not have had the above mentioned experiences that I did, but are looking for ways to begin acquiring wealth with very little to start. Then I say kudos to you for taking charge of your future and welcome you to the journey of building wealth from scratch. It’s going to happen one step at a time and not occur over night, but it doesn’t begin until you take the first step.
If you’ve read this far then I’m guessing that you’re looking to refresh financially and build wealth from scratch as I’ve been doing. If you truly want to get back on your feet and accumulate wealth for your future then I’m going to ask something of you in order for you to achieve that goal. You’re probably thinking to yourself “What’s the catch Dan? There’s always a catch.” Well, you’re right. The catch is that I’m asking for you to commit to the path and not stray from it.
Another thing I’m going to ask of you is to self educate. Knowledge is true wealth and one of the keys to successful investing. The more informed and aware you are, the better decisions you will make. The financial blog is one of the best ways you can become more enlightened and it’s at no cost to you to do it. I’ll be updating it on a regular basis so please be sure to subscribe to it. In fact, I’m working on different ways to provide a lot of free valuable information to everyone who’s interested.
So, will you make a promise to yourself that you will take the journey and face any challenges that come your way? If you can do that, if you can discipline yourself to not give into the urge of instant gratification and reap the benefits of delayed gratification, then let’s take this journey together. Go ahead and take the first step.
Once again… If you haven’t already done so, please check out the financial blog and be sure to subscribe for future updates.
